The iPhone 5S, carrier bands, and travel...

So.

Do we know which models will be sold where?

Buy iPhone 5s in 16GB, 32GB or 64GB - Apple Store (Canada)

Model A1533*: CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 13, 17, 19, 20, 25)

Model A1453*: CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26)

Model A1457*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20)

Model A1530*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20); TD-LTE (Bands 38, 39, 40)

Lots and lots of LTE bands now are there -- far more available than for the iPhone 5 models.

Which model do we get in Canada or the US? Which model is best for overseas travel?

I can only assume that the carriers that currently carry the iPhone will continue to do so. T-mobile and AT&T will carry the GSM model whereas Verizon & Sprint will carry the CDMA versions. I'm don't know about Rogers and others. In regard to overseas travel, a GSM model is your best bet.

Now that I've gotten better at sorting out the numbers, I suppose it's irrelevant.

As any North American GSM model would necessarily have LTE bands 4 and 17. So it's A1453 or A1533.

Model 1457 is probably the European model -- so many carriers are on Band 7 over there, although some UK networks are on Band 20. Model 1530 is likely the Asian model, with the higher LTE bands.

Although -- 2600 LTE, aka LTE MAX, is Band 7. So maybe Rogers would want that model, too... H'm.

Lots of fun, puzzling this out:
