Now that the iPhone 5 disappears does that mean the end of full number models? Otherwise next year there will be iPhone 6 and 6c then iPhone 6s and iPhone 7c? I think they are either going to always be s and c models or the c model will be every other year with the s model. I think the first scenario makes more sense.

I thought they'd get away from 5 and 5S and just call it the iPhone. I think they'll go back to whole numbers next year. Just my thought.

Or less, if rumors about there being a larger iPhone coming out in mid 2014 end up coming true......

I think they took the iPhone 5 away so that people looking to switch over wouldn't directly compare the 5S and the 5 and go "So...what's the difference?" and then they'd just go with the "free" iPhone 5. Just a hunch...

I'm guessing that we'll see a iphone 5C, iphone 6C, iphone 6, and iphone 6X next year. X=bigger screen, higher res, more premium..299 to start.

Or something like that..lol I don't see Apple abandoning the 4" iphone. I'd rather see them make two "premium" iphones..4" and bigger.

And not hurting the sales value of the 5C.

I don't even care as long as that official leather case fits my 5. I want one.

Hit the nail on the head here. By dropping the iPhone 5 and replacing it with the iPhone 5c, Apple creates a tangible distinction between the flagship phone and the midrange phone. However, with the high, off-contract price of the iPhone 5c, which is certainly less costly to produce than the iPhone 5, Apple is also able to protect its margins.

Also the 5 didn't have many LTE bands on a given model, whereas the 5S and 5C do.

Not unlike the short shelflife of the first LTE iPad, the iPad 3, which was replaced quickly by the iPad 4, with more LTE bands.

Got rid of the black/slate model, too, which people kept on getting replaced because of scuffing. (Am now glad I got the black/slate 5. End of an era, the black iPhone!)
