Just thought of something: do you think that they'll sell out the first day? Or are the "S" series phones don't sell out as quick as the new actual model?

"S" model or not, it will sell out... shipping times will slip to 2-3 weeks... take that to the bank.

I've been purchasing iPhones since the 3GS and can't recall one that didn't sell out on day one and slipped to 2-3 week ship times as Fausty mentioned. The 5S will definitely follow this trend.

Yep that's why I'm going to try buying it day 1.

I would too but the problem is I am only due for a early upgrade that will extend my contract with AT&T for another 2 years. If they don't give me another early upgrade in 6 months like they are doing now, I won't be able to upgrade to the 6 next year. Some people claim to get the early upgrades every year while others don't. I'm not sure if I want to chance it or not, especially the way the carriers keep changing the rules all the time.

Yeah those darn carriers!! I have to buy mine outright so here's hoping I can get a pretty penny for my 5.

I luckily have 2 people that never use their upgrades for our family plan. One goes to my brother and the other comes to me. So I have an additional upgrade every year. I always upgrade.

I'm in canada so if I want the iPhone 5s I have to pay full price at an apple store plus it has to be the unlocked version since my next upgrade is in December 2014. Then on top of that I have to hope I can keep my current plan cause if I have to get a new plan I'll be paying $120/month instead of my current $70/month if I want 6 GB of data still

If you buy the phone yourself, of course you can keep your current plan -- isn't it just a matter of popping your SIM into the new phone?

(Did that last year, because I have an awesome retentions plan that I don't want to lose.)

I won't be upgrading. I love my iPhone 5 and it has been able to meet my needs pretty well. I don't see anything in the 5S that I absolutely need to have. I will wait for the 6. It is likely that the 6 will have a different form factor. Its just hard to justify paying so much money for a phone thats going to look exactly the same as the one I have. Also, when doing speed comparisons with my 4S and my current 5, the 5 wasn't that much faster. But I upgraded to the five because of the bigger screen, LTE, lightning connector, and aluminum back.

I will be, but I also have an upgrade next month.

My iPhone 5 was a "test" to see if I liked ios. My old phone, an epic 4g touch (galaxy s2 for sprint) was driving me crazy. Apps would force close a lot, the phone was loosing its ability to charge (I had 3 battery's and reset it several times) I was also sick of having to root it just to get a suitable OS as samsungs ics version was HORRIBLE. It had more issues than a roots rom. I originally wanted a galaxy s3 which I found used for 300 but I thought about it and realized that I would probably pay 300 and as soon as the galaxy s4 came out, the value would drop even more and I would STILL not have enough money to buy a new phone when my upgrade came out and I didn't trust Samsung at all anymore. I decided to try out the iPhone. I knew they kept value thus when my upgrade came up, I could easily sell it for a good price still and not loose too much from buying upfront. I also heard iPhones were very reliable with better battery life than the average android phone. When I bought it I decided I would try it out and if I liked it, I would sell it for the iPhone that comes out in September, if I didn't, I would sell it and get whatever I like at the time from android. Since I ended up liking it looks like I'm getting an iPhone 5s :-)

I'll be upgrading honestly because why the hell not? It's a new phone, I have the means to do so and I'm a tech junky...I will have the new iPhone on release day.

How many of you have decided your 100% upgrading from the iPhone 5 to the 5S?-imageuploadedbytapatalk1377909758.320157.jpg

So I'm guessing I should probably stay with verizon when I get the 5S. Really taking advantage of my unlimited data.

Haha before most of you freak out I was using hot spot during a move cause we didn't have internet.

If I had unlimited data my monthly usage would be about the same :P I'm stuck with 6 GB of data cause the carriers in Canada aren't that nice...

You probably did, but then again it sold. It sucks when you have something your trying to sell for days/weeks.

I might end up waiting till the next jb is released unless i use the 5s for a second line upgrade.

The iPhone 4S model outsold the 4, and I am confident the 5S will outsell the 5 as well.

how can one be 'stuck' with 6GB? I have 1.5GB and that's already the medium sized data package. Australians are stingy fellows.

I did not want to start a new topic for this, but shouldn't the invitations for the purported September 10 event be out any day? There are nine days left, I have not heard a thing. Can anyone remember last year's timing?
