Does the next iPhone REALLY need to be thinner?

Should the next iPhone be thinner than the iPhone 5?

Apple uses thinner just as android OEMs use bigger screens. It's all about differentiators, market appeal and bragging rights.

IMO the iphone doesn't need to be any thinner. Although I would like it a little shorter!

I wouldn't say that screen size is all about market appeal and bragging rights. Every bit of screen directly affects the user experience. A mm or three of thickness doesn't. I would say add a bit to the thickness of the iPhone 5 for extra battery. I read all the raving reviews about battery life, but now that I have one I'm not quite so impressed. It's OK, but not great.

I do not think it should be thinner as well, with the iPhone 5 being a light device it is the first phone I have ever dropped out of my hands. I dropped it 4 times already.
