Iphone 5c strange charging problem

Hi Guys

I get the following problem

My Iphone 5C is charging only if it is started up
I mean if it is off and I plug the Lightning cable, nothing happens
Then if I start it up, after a few seconds, I can hear the sound it does when we plug the usb cable and then charge
I can even connect it to itunes and it works perfectly
So, the problem is that if the battery is too empty to start, then I have to get it out of the phone, charge it enough with an other phone and then, put it back to my phone to be able to start and then charge

This is really strange and I did not find any solution on the net

Any Idea ?

Care to elaborate how you manage to charge your battery with an other phone?

if the battery has normal life for its age and otherwise works ok, then I suspect an issue with the phone itself. If possible, have the Genius Bar at an Apple Store check it all out.

I wonder if there's some kind of a short in the battery connection or if it somehow discharging
