iPhone 5c display broken but i replaced will phone work?

My iphone 5c screen shattered after it took a hard fall. I originally thought the entire phone was broken because it could not turn back on and the display did not work. However, i plugged it into a charger and the phone started getting hot, which led me to believe that only the display is broken. And this was proved when i plugged it in my computer and it still synced, albeit it didnt work because I could not enter my pass code. If i repair the screen, will the phone still work or should i just get a new phone? I dont want to waste money on a repair kit or getting the screen replaced if it wont work even with a new screen

Welcome to iMore! There's no way to know. There could be damage other than the screen. I would let a reputable repair shop have a look.

You can find a reputable re-firb for probably the same cost as fixing the broken one. You could end up getting the screen fixed and then discover that the phone is broken.
