Why does it show an e instead of 3g on my iPhone 5C?

when i turned on my iphone5c pink today instead of 3g it said e and a loading sign and then it said no service im wondering how could i fix this or did it happen to anyone else

The "E" means you're on an Edge network. 3G, 4G, and LTE are currently unavailable to you. You could be in an area where the cellular signal isn't great or your wireless provider could be having issues. Give them a call and make an inquiry.
