I have been charging it but nothing seems to be happenning.

Welcome to iMore! If the battery is weak, it can take a long time to charge. My old 5 often takes an hour or more just to start registering. And just when I think it's not going to, it pops up on the screen. If it goes 3 hours and you see nothing, it may be completely dead. But give it at least a couple hours.
