Can I Listen to Streaming Audio With This Setup?

I am using my son's hand-me-down iPhone 5. I am learning what it can do. I have a streaming audio question.

If I install the NPR streaming audio app and connect to their streaming audio via WiFi on my router, can I pass the streaming signal to the USB port on my LG DVD player an thus use the iPhone as a FM radio 'tuner'?

Besides NPR app, you should also look in to Pandora and TuneIN

I worked this out for myself.

1) Download the 'listen live' app from the station you want to hear. You do not even need the hassle of the iTunes store login, etc.

2) Stream the broadcast on the iPhone

3) Plug a cord into the headphone output on the iPhone

4) Attach a splitter to the other end of the cord and attach the phone to an 'AUX' input on your amplifier or receiver. This may involve a change from mini-stereo jack to RCA.

5) Adjust the volume with the buttons on the iPhone.

It is that simple.
