Hi

I am considering buying an unlocked iPhone 5.

I want to use it on a "pay as you go" basis in the UK and in the USA.

Does this sound feasible if I purchase two sims, one for the UK and one for the States. Can I buy a sim for the USA over here.

I would appreciate any advice and information. Thank you in anticipation.

You could check with whatever UK provider you choose and see if they have any partnerships with US-based pre-paid providers...

Sure, but it depends on what speeds you want, and which model you've bought.

You can get a pay-as-you-go plan from T-Mobile that has you pay $3/day for unlimited US service, with high speed data capped at 200 MB/day. But if you want the T-Mobile LTE and AWS HSPA+ to work, you will want a later-produced A1428. Does that work well in the UK? Maybe, maybe not -- you won't get LTE with that model. (Although you could try Verizon pay-as-you-go with a Verizon iPhone 5, and get LTE in the UK with EE or 3.)

My suggestion? Go with an unlocked North American 5s or 5c. You'll get LTE with some carriers in the UK, and some carriers in the USA.
