My iPhone 5's out of warranty & it needs a new battery' so I've been looking on Apples website & it would cost me 216.44! Would it really cost me that much for a battery? I might as well get a new phone...

You could likely find a 3rd party repair service that could do it for less... Or, if you're adventurous and tech savvy, it can be a do-it-yourself job.

I don't think I could trust a 3rd party to do it.. I would trust apple but only if it was cheaper. I'm from the UK

Have you gone to an apple store? Or only looked it up online?

I've only looked it up online because I thought I would have to make an appointment at the genesis bar.

Do the job yourself mate. Get the battery off amazon or ebay and follow some you tube tutorials.

I did mine recently. The battery cost me 8$ off of amazon and I did it myself on my 5. Its actually easier than expected. Spend the 4$ and get the tools too. I don't think its an OEM battery but it is working amazing. My phone lasts all day now. Even if it dies in 6 months I will buy another one as the batter life is too good.

Watch a youtube video and see if your comfortable following the steps needed to do a battery replacement. If not then go to an apple store. Ask ahead of time for a price. If its out of your budget then find a reputable 3rd party repair center.
Just do some research and see if the repair place has any good or bad reviews.

Battery Replacement is just another reason to get the Apple Care + if you own an iPhone. AppleCare+ for iPhone - Apple Store (U.S.)-applecare-plus.jpeg
