I have an iphone 5 through AT&T with unlimited text and I need to figure out how to do mass text msg to a very large group of phone numbers. Trying to do a little marketing for my small business. After analyzing past phone bills I've got somewhere between 5-10 thousand phone numbers I'd like to send a mass text message to once a month. As this number is so large doing it through the phone itself would take just way too long, so using some kind of alternative mass text method would be my only option. Can anyone give advice on how I can use the net to send text messages to this many people? If it turns out this would only be possible through another carrier I would probably switch.

    I'm open to anything. Thanks.

at work we use twitter for this- They would have to opt in so you wouldn't have to worry about people being angry that you are sending messages- They don't even need to have a twitter account to receive the texts- Just text follow whatever the twitter handle is to 40404 and thats it

Might? Heck, it is spamming, especially if the 5,000 recipients didn't ask for it and/or are not expecting it. I don't personally know anyone who doesn't get ticked when they receive unsolicited marketing ams messages on their device. I immediately delete them upon arrival.

I think you should let them opt in for them, otherwise you might lose their business.

Text spam is the new frontier but unlike email some people get charged for it

My mom and dad don't have text on there cell account so they get charged for outgoing and in coming text

So I had to call and have text blocked on there service

People should have the chance to opt in or opt out.

I would say have an opt in first before trying this no matter how you figure out how to do it. Good points were made here...especially the one about people who don't text often or at all, and don't have unlimited texts. This may end up hurting them and they may be charged for this monthly text you want to send out. I would start by reaching out via email, or even with a phone call if you have done business with them in the past. This way they are aware of it, they can give you the OK, and they won't be surprised and/or upset when they do receive the text.

I certainly do. There is no valid reason in the world, IMHO, to "mass text message" between 5000 and 10000 people.
