iPhone 5 UK GSM data speeds very slow compared to Nexus 5

Anyone know why the Nexus 5 has at least triple the mobile data speed compared to the iPhone 5 in the UK on Three?

Speeds tests where I live on the iPhone 5 are round about 3MB/S where the same sim in a Nexus 5 pulls data at over 10MB/S

Seems a bit strange to me, does the iPhone 5 lack some data band?

"Three" is the name of a service provider in the UK.

Yes, sorry Three is a UK network / provider. When I am tethered via hotspot using the Nexus 5 speeds are way faster for downloads etc than the iPhone 5. In the region of 4:1, must be a radio difference, will test tonight with an iPhone 5S.
