I know the answer to this was "no" four years ago with the iPhone 3G, but I'm hoping for a different answer now with the iPhone 5 on iOS 6.1.4: Is it possible to run the phone function via USB?

I now have a 2010 Ford Focus with the lower-end Sync console. It has both USB and Bluetooth connectivity, but it if BT is active, the USB for media is a pain in the ****. I have to wade through layers of menus to select the playlist I want, even when it's already queued up on the phone, which re-randomizes it. IOW, no way to simply play where I left off. I am told that if I do not use BT at all, I can just plug it in and play. I am interested in doing it that way because that's one less 12v socket I need to use, and the song info will show up on the car's console, which in turn means I can forego getting a dash mount for the phone.

But, in order to do that, I need to turn off Bluetooth on the phone. Which in turn means that I need to have the telephone work over USB.

Can that be done now, or is it still "no"?

I can't say for certain, but I believe the answer is still "no".
