If you're referring to Google Voice, you just have to set it up the way that you like using the link online. However, you will have to direct people to use that number instead of the one on T-Mobile.

I personally don't care for it myself but know many people that use it and prefer it. Just directs a different number for people that wish to not give out their real phone number.

I have been using Google Voice as a secondary phone line for quite a while. I give that particular number to businesses and business people for obvious non-personal use and it has worked out well for me. Like ELavar stated, just set it up. You can also use it for texting purposes. It does a great job at maintaining a history of both calls and text messages.

I've been using it since it was Grand Central (before Google bought it). I use it so I have a number to give my students so they can text me, without giving them my direct number. It has many amazing classroom applications.

If you're wanting Google Voice to be the default voicemail client for your iPhone's phone number (similar to how it works on Android), then that won't work. That feature only works on Android phones as it has system level access (that, and being on a Google OS helps). Outside of that, the above posters are correct.

Fortunately, the iPhone's visual voicemail client is much better than the default setup on Android phones, so it's not a big loss.

That is exactly what I wanted to do, use Google Voice as my default voicemail as I have with my last 6 Android phones. I have only had the iPhone 5 for a short time and many on this forum say the two OS are close I say many things are different. I think if Apple would incorporate a good file management system it would do wonders. Saying that I really enjoy this phone. More than enjoy, I like it allot.
    Thanks for the help,
    Vinny

I don't think that is entirely accurate. I have had my iPhone number forwarding to Google voicemail for months. To activate it, log into Google Voice via your browser, go to the Settings page and scroll down to add your iPhone number. From there, you can "activate Google voicemail on this phone."

Edit: Here's a link to the instructions from Google.

If that's the case, then I guess I'm mistaken. I say give the above instructions a shot.

The OP wants to use the voicemail part of Google Voice, which is a very easy thing to set up.

Have it all set up and working just like it should. Set it up just the same as my Android phones. Thanks for all the input.
