How come when you take a pic with the iPhone 5 they don't fill the screen? It's as if the pics are only the size of a 4/4s screen.
Can i change that?

Nope. That is the aspect ratio that the camera takes the pics in.
You are not taking a 16:9 picture. The pictures are still 4:3 which is why they don't fill the screen.
Ahhh makes sense, thanks!!!
How can one take a 16:9 landscape photo?
Not with the stock camera app. I believe ProCam lets you shoot in 16:9
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/proc...mt=8&at=10l3Vy
also while shooting a video, you can snap pictures. Those will be 16x9. Not the best solution, but somewhat of an alternative.
How do you take pics while shooting a video?
Those pics taken during a video are limited by video resolution rather than the full 8MP resolution of the still camera.
Confirmed... Procam does shoot in 16:9. It's one of the options.
Thanks. Don't understand why this isn't available from the get go if the camera has the ability to do it.
Because pictures are 4:3, that's like the standard and stuff. ;-)
Yeah this really bothered me at first as well but got used to it Wish we had an option to shoot in 16:9
