I just did my buddies iP5, but it took about a day and a half before he got his confirmation email...no big deal, he was just wanting to ship it off since he sold it on eBay for $800, lol.

I got hold of T-M0bile Nano SIM and tested on my AT&T iPhone 5 (purchased at full price at Apple store). It is unlocked as it is able to detect T-Mobile sim card fine. I didn't do any restore so I assume restore is not necessary to unlock the phone if you paid full price for it. Screenshot below...

I am not sure. That site was posted by someone else a couple pages back. I will know for sure in a week when I get T-Mobile nano sim to test it out.

Was it a weekend when he ordered it, Sean? I think it takes longer if ordered on weekends or holidays. Even though it took a day and a half, I'm glad to hear that it worked at least.

My buddy just bought his iPhone 5 at ATT out of contract for full price. He is asking me if the iPhone has to be activated before attempting to unlock. Or can he just go home, buy an unlock request and wait... He has not opened the sealed box in case it needs to be activated. He is not an ATT customer but T-Mobile like me.

If he bought it full price it should be unlocked. Tell him to connect to iTunes and restore and at the end he should get a confirmation that his phone is unlocked.

Was skeptical when I clicked on the thread but after looking through the posts it looks like this is a legitimate option for unlocking my i5 since Im traveling outside the US for about a week. Will report back with results

I just called my carrier Telus and they said that they can unlock my phone for $35.....i will definitely be unlocking it...whenever I travel to the USA I have a pre-paid SIM card i use and save a tonne of money by using it.

I used Fusion unlock on Ebay. Took them about 3 hours. And it cost 4.99.

I tried my iPhone 5 on Verizon and it shows Locked. Not sure where this site gets it's info from because I typed in another IMEI of an At&t iPhone 4 that was unlocked by At&t and it says Locked for that phone as well. I know for a fact it's unlocked because I went to a T-mobile store today and they put in their SIM and the phone worked fine. It says "T-Mobile" on the top left as well.

Next time I meet up my buddy that has an At&t iPhone 5, i will swap SIMs and see if it works. I've seen all the videos and reports about Verizon iPhone 5's being unlocked. Just want to be sure before I travel internationally.

You don't have to. Verizon and apple both made it clear it was unlocked.
