I was all set - going to use Mom's dumbphone upgrade on my new IP5 and then pay full retail for wife's but after looking at the past year in data use, we've never gone over 2 GB total between us. Our current plan (1400 family, unlmtd data) also is $32/month more than the tiered set up would be for 4 GB. So it's a no-brainer in my case just going to move to the tiers, take the upgrade, save enough to pay for both phones after 13 months and then sell our existing IP4's for a few hundred bucks of profit. Guess I should watch a few hours of MLB.com over cellular just to abuse the unlimited plan before I give it up huh?
Have you had a lte device before? Reason I ask is my uncle did the same thing but now having a lte device his usage has gone up significantly. Just a FYI.

I'll tell u one thing and I don't even have the ip5 on me yet. The 4g LTE is going to be enough to use it without wi fi, therefore using more data than 3G. From what I hear the speeds are about the same as wi fi or faster! The only reason I didn't use much data was because the 3G speeds are here. If LTE speeds are what they claim to be, I'm sure i will be going over 5 gb a month. Therefore, needing my unlimited like a baby needs his moms knockers.

I just switched to the included nano sim after experiencing issues with my cut down micro sim. The switch went over smoothly. I was kind of shocked when verizon tech support told me the sim can be activated to my number after it was deactivated the first time around.

Anyways, unlimited 4G LTE on my Verizon iPhone 5!!!!

Is anyone else in the same boat as me? I upgraded on a line with unlimited data and an upgrade. When I got the phone I called csr to activate on my line ( the one without An upgrade). She did. Now I look at my line and it is unlimited as expected. I look at the line I used the upgrade from And it still shows unlimited. So, what happened? Not like I am complaining of course.

When I spoke with the rep she asked me what I wanted and I said the 2 gb on the line I used the upgrade from. So far both have stayed unlimited. This was activated last Friday.

Well, then.. you'll see that line as a 2GB line, and it won't be unlimited; unless there was a snafu and you got lucky enough to get out of it, for now.

    You got it !!
now when you activate the iphone 5 on the unlimited line and still have a dummy phone on the line that was upgraded to the iphone 5 to get the discount, does it go back to no data after choosing 2 gb at $30 since it is a dummy phone? Do I have to ask for that?

My rep said "And I assume you want the data taken right off correct?"

Most generally know exactly what you are doing and help you through it easily.

Be warned....if your transfer the upgrade OFF your line and give it to your wife, your line will lose unlimited data. I tried doing this and now my line has a upgrade available and will not be used.

Im not sure about your example but here is mine. My line has an upgrade available. I was going to give my upgrade to my mom but Verizon said if I transfer my upgrade to her line, MY contract will re-new and I will lose MY unlimited data....I cancelled that idea. Now my line has an upgrade on it but will not be used.

The line that has the upgrade loses the data not the one receiving it ..

Ok I have a scenario becuase it looks like everyone here had multiple lines or paid full retail. (IDK, I could be wrong) I have a 4s with only one line on my account with unlimitted everything. Can I add a line and get the 5 without losing unlimited?

If you add a line you will have to do a family plan and I think that will be a share everything so then you would lose your data .. Or they will make you give that line it's own plan completely and that would be a new plan that would be 90 a month even if you do that swap phone and put a dummy on new line on own plan it would still be 50 a month extra but you then would keep unlimited on other line

You dont deserve to keep the unlimited data if you haven't figured it out by now.

So either you are very ignorant or unable to come up with an educated guess? Theres people with pictures showing that they kept unlimited. Maybe that would help you more. What more do you need when someone is saying straight up that they kept unlimited doing so and so.
What is wrong with people these days lol...

Just paid full price. After selling my previous phone (craptastic s3) the 5 will cost me about the same as what I would have paid on contract.

I forgot to update my answer after receiving the phone. I have been able to keep the unlimited after using my boyfriends dumb phone line upgrade since he didn't care to use it. I'm so glad now I won't have to monitor it constantly
