Always was one of the crazy Apple fans that stood out in the cold all night waiting for the Apple Store to open. Glad I got ahold of my senses and decided to pre-order this year! Only 1 more hour!

True. But even now if your iphone is out of contract you have to apply for the unlock and it is then available within 5 days.

I had my 4 unlocked instantly when it became out of contract.
Called 611, they took my information, sent me an email, told me to plug my iphone into the computer/itunes and it was done.

Took about a half hour in total.
