I just purchased a new MBP with USB 3.0 and am currently awaiting it to come in the mail.

Will sync times improve using the 30 pin connector over USB 3.0 vs 2.0?

If that's the case should we expect faster sync times with Lighting over USB 3.0?

Or is wireless altogether faster than using a cord?

i'm not sure if lightning has usb 3.0. ( i doubt it does)

Your MBP with 3.0 will sync with 2.0 devices at 2.0 speeds.. sorry.. but if your old laptop has usb 1.0 then you should see a significant speed increase :D

There are no specs on the lightning connection speeds yet...so it's kind of hard to say if any improvements will exist as far as transfer speeds go.

No. The iPhone 4S and earlier does not support USB3... and they didn't mention USB3 on the new devices, either.

Lightning to USB Cable - Apple Store (U.S.)

"This USB 2.0 cable connects your iPhone or iPod with Lightning connector to your computer's USB port for syncing and charging or to the Apple USB Power Adapter for convenient charging from a wall outlet."

Hard to believe that the term "Lightning" is used in reference to USB 2 when there is a USB 3 available. My MBP will be disappointed.
