Iphone 5 to kick start mobile payments?

With the latest leakes of a proposed NFC chip incorporated into the next iPhone, do you think the iPhone would FINALY kick start mobile payments? Some android devices already have NFC chips but mobile payments haven't really gone mainstream so now we all look to the iPhone. But would you really use it or would you just stick to using your card or cash?

I don't think it's going to really become a common place thing for a while even when the NFC feature is fully up and running...

I could see it being widely adopted, in conjunction with Passbook.
