I'm going to repair iPhone 4s because, although nano sim
card is inserted, device shows no signal icon (no dots) indicating 'no service' or searching 'text'.
Sim card is detected and I verified there is no lock with its IMEI.
I tried to replace sim card with another one but I gave the same problem.
So I'm not able neither to call/receive calls nor to use 3G services.
I opened iPhone and I didnt see problems to antenna but I tried to plug in it again.
I reset to factory defaults again, I set date and time, I removed sim and afterwards I reinserted it.
I noted that when I remove and reinsert sim card, in settings menu appears carrier entry so if I disable automatic network selection it appears a carrier list but when I choose one of them I have no results, iphone says always searching!
When i restart iPhone, carrier entry disappears so I have to extract and reinsert sim card.
I thought to replace 3g antenna part but I have several doubts...
    What do you think?

If you have the option, take the phone to an Apple store and have them look at it.
