Why can't I connect iPhone 4s to wifi

I purchased a second hand iPhone 4s. We have no phone service to it. It is for my 10yr old son to use while on wifi for games. He uses it more like an iPod. The phone connected to wifi long enough to set it up as a new phone but dropped the wifi connection and will not even find my wifi network now when scanning. How can I reconnect to my wifi?

Try turning off wifi on the phone- reboot and try it again. If that doesn't work you can try resetting network connections
