Why is my iPhone 4S is not updating to iOS 8?

Since the inception of iOS 8, whenever I try to update both from the phone or iTune. I always get the message that " iOS 7. 1.2 your software is up to date". I've over 6G space left.

hmmm thats odd i am really not sure- I will say you may have dodged a bullet because most who installed iOS 8 on their 4s report that it slowed it down considerably
