Is there any way around this without JB? I have to have my phone on lock and I often have troubles getting phone calls answered due to dirty hands at work? If not I may have to go back to bb :0? Not good when I am not able to answer important phone calls!

In no way am I trying to be funny, but getting an earpiece, whether cord or Bluetooth would allow you to answer your iPhone without you having to slide to answer or even touch it at all.

I haven't checked it on my iPhone 4S but in my android phone it provides me option to receive calls by clicking trackball. Check your phone's call settings to receive calls from your home button. If there is no such option then external hands-free is the best alternative for you.
