Yup, lol speeds are just enough to use basic stuff and I'm only 9 days into my billing cycle.

9 days in and already throttled!?!? Geez what do you do with your phone? No wifi connection around? I rarely exceed 3GB's.

I wish I had wifi at work so I could use the iPad. I was watching HD YouTube and using pandora to and from work. Well this month I did try to use a lot because of AT&T an their BS usually I'm under 3GB.

HD Youtube will get you there. If its a lot of Pandora, that doesnt help either.

Never, sprint has to be the worst service ever. I'm fine being throttled still works but no more YouTube for awhile. Also I will never leave gsm.

It will probably say 4G regardless if u have HSPA +or just HSPA. lame.
Actually it does change to 3G when you are not on the HSPA+ network.

    I'm skeptical about that.

Don't know what to tell you then. I've heard it does from multiple people. I'm in a really good area so I can't say otherwise.

You are right. The Docs at work who updated to 5.1 were saying how while they are at work they now have the 4G symbol and when a few of them leave the symbol changes to 3G because they don't have HSPA+ coverage where they live. I can't tell yet because I have no plans to upgrade till 5.1 gets an untethered jailbreak.

HSPA+ is much faster than regular 3G. I get 7-8 down. 3-4 up.
That doesn't make it real 4G.

Either way, my battery is draining ridiculously fast since the update.

I bought a Mophie juice pack plus just to be able to use it throughout the day.

    so. what.

the "is it really 4G or not" argument needs to just end.

What is really 4G. Pretty sure it's not LTE since LTE is called LTE.

Does nothing make you people happy? People complain about everything. You don't like it switch carriers or start your own carrier company.

I found I needed to drain my battery all the way and then charge to 100% then reset the phone and now I get good battery.

    I also turned off PUSH.

Jeremy and everyone else is correct and by the way this 4G symbol is only on AT&T phones.

    No it doesn't.

I have a 3G MicroCell at my house and it's just HSPA 3.6 (which is 3G) and it even labels that 4G. I also live in a regular 3G area (as indicated by the AT&T coverage map and from engineering mode on my old skyrocket) and it still says 4G all the time. The only time it doesn't show 4G is when i'm on EDGE.

I'm just going off of what I've been told by some reliable friends. They've seen it say 3G. What kind of download speeds are you getting in your area?

I would be very surprised if they coded IOS 5.1 to differentiate between hspa and hspa + when displaying the connection signal. I think rather than be accurate they are just slapping a sticker in it and done.

It's just the new indicator AT&T was given. It's meaningless marketing. Easier to change a label than build a network.
