I've had it with Verizon and I was wondering if my Verizon iPhone 4s will work on AT&T. I know the iPhone 4 will not. Just curious if it is universal now

FYI, there is no jailbreak or unlock for the 4S (yet). It may be possible to move the phone between a CDMA carrier (Verizon/Sprint) and a GSM carrier(AT&T) in the future because of the Qualcomm dual-mode chipset, but right now that is locked down by the carriers. So the answer is still no... but IMO it is not out of the question for the future... and certainly if/when there is a jailbreak.

And BTW... not a dumb question. Actually brings up a fairly interesting scenario that doesn't seem to be talked about much...

There's a good post on this forum that compares the iPhone on the various networks. I'll see if I can find it again...

Nope. Return it, buy at ATT, then port.

im not sure i would switch... i have heard more often than not.. that AT&T not only has terrible customer service, but also has the most dropped calls. Especially in larger cities. the only benefit would be the speed would be better and you can browse (use data) while on a call.

What is your current plan on VZ? do you have unlimited or are you on a specific data plan?

I live in Cleveland and travel around the country and only in the sticks do I ever see a problem with AT&T .... It's all about where you live, you can return your 4S to Verizon try AT&T for a month if you like your coverage and have no issues THEN port your number over .... If not, return and go back to VZW ... It's that simple. Lol

I have an unlimited data plan with Verizon for all three iPhones in my house. The plan is great, the coverage is great but their billing and customer service suck. I've been with them for the better part of ten years and within the last six months their billing has gotten out of control. Very frustrating

In my year of being with AT&T, I never had a problem with Customer Service. Usually they're really nice on the Phone and in Store, they're nice as well. Only time I can complain about was talking to someone in CS, she kept on putting me on hold, making sure I was there, and hold again. Other then that, they are nice.

That is just me, I'm only one person out of the millions of Customers of AT&T.

I never liked Verizon only because their coverage around my house sucked. Even at work it sucked, also AT&T, but I don't know why Pasadena is an Average City, it should be good. I'm close to Mount Wilson for crying out loud?
