After two hours talking to the wrong department of Verizon wireless they transferred me to their global team department and according to them my iPhone 4S has been UNLOCKED!

Their policy is that you need to have at least 3 months with your service and you can only get 1 device unlock every 10 months.

I bought my iPhone on a new line but called to switch devices right before talking to the global team department to get my line with unlimited data on the iPhone so the line was showing that i had more than 3 months with them.

She told that it was unlock remotely by Apple support so there is no way for me to check if it was unlock or not; i guess I have to wait until i go out side the us and use a foreign SIM Card.

They did send me an email with their policy about using a different SIM Card on their unlock devices.

Is there any way that I can check if the device is unlock? Thanks!

If you have a friend with AT&T that has a micro sim throw it in there and see what happens.

Actually when a carrier officially unlocks a phone for you you should get a screen in iTunes the next time you plug it in that states it's been unlocked
