factory unlocked 4s?

does anyone know if there is going to be any factory unlocked 4s at the intital release date in the u.s.? ive been looking everywhere havent really found anything concrete? any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I am not sure if they made an unlocked version. Usually when you go on ebay they have unlocked verison's of all iPhones, maybe the 4S has an unlocked version! Good luck!

Maybe, but probably not. Historically, the unlocked version of the iPhone comes 3-6 months after the initial launch.

I stared a thread about this earlier. I am hearing conflicting info from Apple. Some reps said yes there will be one, another said no.

I work for an airline so if there is no iPhone 4S unlocked, I am booking myself a quick trip to Vancouver and will buy one there. Make it a day trip. I hate ATT and wont ever go with them.

If I get the Verizon model, is the GSM portion unlocked?
If I put an AT&T SIM in it, will it work? How about a non-US SIM?

If I buy the AT&T model, I assume that is locked and can't take another SIM. However, will the CDMA be locked? Will I be able to use it on Verizon if I want to switch?

Basically, what is locked and what isn't locked?

I see that they will be selling unlocked versions $649, $749, $849.

I am sure if you buy it from the carrier it will be locked to that carrier. It will be up to that carrier to unlock it for you. This is purely a guess on my behalf though.

The unlocked version is not going to be released until November. That is from the Apple website.

It's doubtful you will see any unlocked iPhone 4S in the US markets for a while - at least 3 months IMHO. And as has been said already, anything you buy from a carrier is guaranteed to be locked to that carrier.

Yep, I just saw a tweet from 9to5Mac that said the same thing. At least it's not a 3 month wait.

So Ive just got an unlocked phone from Apple on order.
Does that mean that the wifi spot will be unlocked too? (im in the UK)

thanks for the info guys...guess ill have to wait awhile but at least i'll have ios 5 to mess around with on my 3gs, that should hold me over. everyone cross their fingers in hope that tmobile gets the iphone 5 1/2 or iphone 6

iOS 5 is coming to 3GS on October 12th their is a free download, and the reason Sprint got iPhone is probably because, of all the reccomendations to get the device, maybe you should contact t mobile and leave feedback saying you want iPhone

Sucks since I have only 7 more more days to return my current factory unlocked iPhone 4 to Apple. Looks like I will be using a dumbphone for the next month. Lame but I am sure it will be worth it. I already had a ticket to Vancouver booked (seriously).

What are the differences between the unlocked iphone 4S and the locked ones? I hear that they dont have all the features as the locked ones.

Also siri is available in canadian unlocked iphone 4S? or is siri only for USA Market?
