Mobile Hotspot Issues

is anyone experiencing delays in a device picking up the iphone for tethering? my iPad 2 takes about 45 secons to pick up the phone, then it times out soon as the screen locks, not sure if that is normal or not. haven't used the mobile hotspot feature on the public versions of iOS. Thanks

the hotspot actually worked better for me in ios5. That said, i never paid for the feature, yet i was able to use it. Used it for 2 months, worked flawlessly. Now i am back to ios4 and it no longer works. boo.
