Downloading iOS5

My friend wants to download iOS5 not from a developer account though, what are the downsides? Besides him not paying ..

Right now, the only way to "legally" get iOS5 is via developer accounts.

Talking about doing anything other than proper, legal means is highly discouraged here at TiPB.

If the device's UDID isn't registered thru a developers account the phone won't get verified by Apple and the upgrade won't work - possibly bricking the phone.

Yep, don't do it without your UDID registered, had this happen on my iPad once, wasn't pretty. Good news is that your device will come back to life once your UDID is registered.
