    I have an iPhone 4 that is just used for GPS hiking apps. Is there any improvement in GPS technology in a newer iPhone?

    The GPS technology is roughly the same. But because the iPhone 4 is older, it's slower and won't load as fast. The newer iPhones are faster because they have new/ current generation technology. The GPS technology in all or most phones should be the same. Also, it depends on the app as well. Newer apps for example, probably don't have good tracking or consistent tracking.
    But it's better to just get a newer iPhone as well. Bigger screen, bigger battery, more efficient because they have newer technology.
