Mac and iTunes help!

So I have an old Mac that I can no longer use with my iPhone 4 as it isn't capable of downloading newest iTunes. So I want to be able to use it with my husbands newer Mac.
When I plug the phone I Mac it says something like I have to restore phone to the new Mac or something to make it compatible and use. I dont want to lose stuff on my phone and have ally husbands Mac stuff on my phone. There are four of us and all use same Apple ID.
Any tips?

Being that your iPhone has never been associated with iTunes on the new computer, iTunes is just asking for permission to associate your iPhone with the new computer. It shouldn't delete anything on the device.

You can copy your files onto a flash drive and paste them to the new Mac.
