LIghtning is a Thunderbird add-on. It has a Calendar component and one for Tasks. Tasks menu options are greyed out. There's a message: Please select a calendar that supports tasks.

I already share a calendar with partner, via iCloud and Lightning. Would like to get Tasks to function in this same environment.

Has anyone gotten Tasks to sync with their iphone--how'd you do it?!?

Are these Google Tasks?

No. I'm initiating this from Lightning; I don't have an existing Tasks app. I'd prefer to link Lightning Tasks with the icloud and/or my iphone. Rather not involve Google as I'm not using any of their services at this time.

In other words, the driving requirement is twofold:
1. to have Tasks listed in Lightning (so I can make hard copies and local backups), and
2. to have them sync on my iphone and my partner's android phone so we can share the info

Other components must be free and reliable--other than that I'm probably not bothered by whatever's involved.

I don't know of a way to do it, as Lightning is so unique. I was never even able to get it to work.

It's unfortunate. I did manage to get the calendar working, though the documentation is quite deplorable. Could be they haven't developed the task section well enough to connect with much yet...
