Help! My phone got dish soap on it!

My girlfriends iphone 4 got some dish soap on it, mainly on the bottom around and in the charging port and speakers. The phone is still on but the home button no longer works or is unresponsive. Can you please tell me what to do? Thank you so much!

Hold power button and swipe to turn off. Put in a bag of rice for 24 hrs.

That's about all you can do with it... the bad part is, that soap, unlike water, won't dry "clean". The viscosity and chemicals in the soap are gonna continue to create problems if it actually got inside the phone and on to any of the internal components... gonna be gunky and gooey.

Ya not much else to do besides pray it works. Have Apple care or Insurance?

If it's just the button, you can just pay to have apple service it, but it will cost ya.

This phone is less than a year old, anything that can happen with that?

Contractually, no. It's considered physical damage/abuse. If you throw yourself on the mercy of the genius, you might get lucky. Otherwise, you'll be on the hook for the cost of the repair... unless you have AppleCare+ or insurance through your carrier.
