The iPhone 4 pictures are around 400 to 500 KB a piece, so 1 gig of storage is around 2000 pictures or more!

Maybe pics taken with the crappy front facing camera or pics from the 5mp rear camera with digital zoom, but native pics from the rear camera will be 1.5-2mb in size. For comparison pics with the 4S 8mp rear camera are 2-2.5mb in size. On either iPhone videos can be several 100 mbs...

Your right. One or two darker pics were low in kilbytes, but I saw that brighter and more vivid pics (more data for the pics to show) are 1 meg or so. Still, 1 gig or storage is about 1000 pics. I have 4.5 gigs open on mine with music and it is fine.

I switch from a BB 9650 to the 8gb iPhone 4 with Verizon. $99 minus $30 NE2 minus some other statement credits I negotiated, and I netted mine for $35 after tax. Can't beat that.

I have a 16 GB iPhone 4 and I sometimes wish I would have sprung for the 32 GB version, purely so I could have ALL of my music on my phone instead of just a select few songs. Of course, I have over 20 GB of music.

A word to the wise, if you have 20 GB of music that you want to store on your iPhone. 64 GB is the only way to go for storage. That's the reason why I got it.

So my two cents is this- If you are signing a two year contract and can swing the extra $100 why not get a phone with twice as much memory and a faster processor and a better camera etc- The might be fine but you will think twice before installing an app or taking pictures or video etc.Maybe if you dont open the box and use it they may do something with the restocking fee- remember once you open and use they cannot sell it as new- Why spend $199 plus the $35...

I'm going for 64 GB when I upgrade next summer.

This thread has kind of helped me, but I'm still trying to figure out if a 16gb 4S is something I can do. I've got a decent offer on one, but I don't know if I can handle that low of memory.

I've got about 6gb of music, 400+ pictures, 70-80ish apps, and a couple videos. I have a feeling that regardless of the deal, I will regret getting the 16gb.

I'd appreciate any opinions. Thanks!

I have a 16 GB iPhone 4 and I really wish I would have saved more and sprung for the 32. I can't fit all of my music on my phone, since I have 22 gigs total. That, coupled with my roughly 2 gigs of apps, would more than fill up the 13.xx gigs of space my phone offers.

If and when I get the 4S, I'm getting AT LEAST 32 gigs of memory. I'm sick of having two devices (the other being an iPod Classic). It'll be cool to just use my iPhone as my iPod too.

Here is my 32 gig. But I have a 500,000 song hard drive to pull from, so I have to be careful with my music. I will look seriously at the 64 when I upgrade because I don't like to continually manage my storage.

I don't know how people manage with 8GB. I always think that's for people who get the iPhone to use it as a phone. I have the 32 and I still have to deal with reaching the limit. I think the extra $100 over the life of the phone is worth it to get the 16. One consideration is whether you spend a lot of time away from Wifi. I do, and I like to download podcasts and keep music on my phone, so I'm not streaming on 3G throughout the day. That takes up space. I agree with others AppleCare isn't worth it, especially if you're going for a subsidized/fairly cheap phone.

Several AT&T stores are still selling the 4 in 16 and 32 gigabyte versions. My friend just got a 16 gb iPhone 4 for $149.00.

Pay the money for the newer faster one. If you do the math, it's only about two bucks more per month over two years.

I netted my VZW 8gb 4 for ~$35. It was $99 minus $30 for my last New Every Two and then I negotiated additional statement credit.

The 8 works for me. Sure, I don't really DL any very large apps or movies...just dont have time. Yes, the space is "limiting" a bit for my music, but if I get an iPad for my wife's birthday I think we'll go with iTunes Match, and then it really is moot.

Siri and the better camera were NOT deal breakers for my by any stretch of the imagination so I just couldn't see spending another $100 just for the adidtional space. I'll save that for a 5 or whatever when my contract is up.
