Backup of IPhone

I have an attorney who has an IPhone 4 that he purchased from the apple store back in january. He has never synced it with a computer and now he want to upgrade to IOS5. When we attach his IPhone to a computer, it want to erase everything and start over. There is no option to back up first. He has over 200 apps. Any way to back this thing up first? Thanks.

As soon as you plug the iphone to your computer and open iTunes it should back up automatically. If not check the settings in iTunes to make sure that option is checked.

Are you plugging it into a computer that has an open iTunes account already on it? Just curious if that would be why it is only giving you the one option.

You should also be able to right click on then iPhone in iTunes and pick the backup option.

As it was stated it should automatically start backing up.
