It is possible they don't actually know where to find the update. It's NOT an over-the-air update. Plug your iPhone 4 into your computer with sync cable..

1. In iTunes highlight your iPhone in the left hand column
2. Click "Summary" at the top of your iTunes program
3. Scroll down to "Version"
4. Click "Check for updates", it will guide you through the set-up and installation

Yes, the iPhone 4s shipped with it.

To find out what version of iOS is installed on your iPhone, go to Settings / General / About and look at Version.

Did the new itunes (10.5) lose all the tabs at the top of iphone sync. I no longer have the ability to manually sync. Help!!

No monk you can still manually sync. I do it all the time. When you connect your phone, from the device screen you should see a button bottom right that says sync. Just press and wait.
