iPhone 4 Jailbreak/Unlock

I have an iphone 4 4.3.3 firmware 04.10.01 on Bell and have been traveling to the US a fair bit and would like to unlock the phone so I can use a US sim card while I am down there. I have seen all the ads for the iphone-unlocker pro and have done some reading on it and everything online seems to say it is a scam and why would you pay for something you can do for free. I like free, but I also like simple. Looking for some opinions and some information on what my options are. Most of the posts I have found on here are older so I am looking for some current info and thoughts.
