Absolutely. Just go to "Settings", then tap "General", then "Passcode Lock." From there you can create a passcode and tinker with the passcode settings. You can use a "simple passcode," which means choosing a 4-digit numeric passcode. However, I suggest turning "simple passcode" off this way you can create an alphanumeric passcode (i.e. letters and numbers) --this'll make it a lot more difficult for the bad guys to crack your passcode.

You can also set it up that if the wrong code is entered I believe 10 times it'll erase the data on the phone.

I think that "feature" is the default.

Anytime I've setup a lock on mine it hasn't been checked. I usually make sure it's not because I know how I am with remembering pass codes of any kind, which is generally why mine isn't locked lol
