So I took my phone to the beach with me on vacation and I'm almost positive I've heard that lithium ion batteries aren't supposed to be exposed to heat and i noticed the battery ran out a lot faster than usual, anyone else notice something similar? Cause I always assumed they meant extreme heat, not heat from the temperature outside.

I have never noticed anything of the sort. If you were constantly checking on the batt status i could say that took the ding to batt life.

Yes, heat will degrade your batteries performance the most. Here is a link from Apple that shows a little about the temp. http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html

Heat is not good for the iPhone in general. If it gets too hot it will actually shut itself off until it cools down.

Correct. When the iPhone gets too hot it will display a warning message like this one:

I got that once before when I left my phone in my glove box while I was at work and the temperature outside exceeded 100 F. Never again.

Had mine plugged into a small boombox to listen to music while outside and it shut off. Walked over to it and saw that message. Too much direct sunlight.

I took mine out to the pool & left it on our deck.. I got that same message. I turned the phone off and took it inside, 30 minutes later it worked just fine I'll never do that again though!

Happens in summer sometimes when I have it docked in the car and leave it there for a long time. Its more of a safety thing so I don't mind when it pops up. I know I push it to the edge sometimes lol
