I heard on a local radio station not too long ago that there is a device that plugs into an iPhone and extracts all the messages from it (even deleted messages). I'm trying to locate this device for lost data recovery and would really appreciate it if a forum member would point me in the right direction.

I know this isn't an iPhone 4 specific question, so if this thread belongs elsewhere please move at your convenience mods.

Never heard of such a device. Have you tried Google or Bing?

From what I've read in the past,
    those are forensic
devices that are only sold to law enforcement, etc.

I've tried Googling it of course. Nothing. Is there any (OS X) app that will rip the contents off an iPhone then? Plug it into my computer and do it that way?

I think there's an app called SMS export or something like that...if i remember correctly, it's a paid app, but does what you need.
