Lock iPhone to 3G Only Mode

Hello everyone,
I would like to lock my iPhone to 3G only mode. I know this can be done on AT&T iPhones via editing the csidata file, however this file is different on Verizon iPhones and I'm not sure if this is even possible on it. Here is the csidata file contents for Verizon phones:

I'd really appreciate any help on if this can be done. I'm in a fairly weak signal area and the phone tends to switch to 1X even though I have good 3G speeds. I will only lock it to 3G when I need to tether.

Not sure what a CSIDATA file is. But I know the same thing can be accomplished if you jailbreak and then install SBSettings and installed the EDGE toggles to turn off EDGE and leave 3G on.

That does not seem to work on the Verizon iPhone either. After installing and tapping the toggle on, the phone just resprings into Safe Mode. Thanks, though.
