Ok, so now I converted from Blackberry to Iphone. It seems to be verry cool so far but how do I save attachments such as word or excel files to view later? Please tell me this is something the phone allows you to do.

There are many different apps that allow you to do that. There's goodreader and Dropbox as well as others. The attachment wont be stored on your phone but when you click and hold it in the email it will ask you which program to use to view the file. If it's a PDF then the phone will view it natively and you can also save it to the phone and it will go into iBooks. In Dropbox the files are uploaded to their servers and you view the files through the app.
