Is there an app that allows you to check the signal strength more accurately than just the signal bars? I'm guessing I would have to jailbreak my phone first.

There's a way to do it by dialing out. I forget the the number though. Hopefully someone will chime in. Don't need to be jailbroken. That's for sure.

I'm new to iPhones but a buddy told me that the 3G did have a number and even an app that you could get. But with the iPhone 4 signal issues at the beginning, the app was removed and the number doesn't work???

It's not an app. It's a carrier thing. I have att so there's a number that I dial
from the dial pad and it changes the signal bars to the dB numbers. Only thing
is that if you want to see the signal bars again you have to touch it so it
changes from the number to that. Let me see if I can find the number.

Fantastic!!! It worked ..... Much appreciated I just ordered an aluminum case and can't wait to verify that the case doesn't affect the signal THANK YOU!:)
