wifi tethering question...

if one were to leave tethering on.. would that considerably drain the battery.. or does it do some exceptional battery savings?

i'm looking to see if its worth it to have my AT&T iPad 3g (1st gen) to be a wifi only device, then use my Verizon iPhone 4 to be its data source... but its a pain in the keister to turn tethering on/off when i need to...

You will need to turn it off as it will drain the battery. I'm not sure if the legit tethering has it since I've only used mywi, but mywi shuts itself off after a while of inactivity

I use MyWi as well so I can't say for sure about the stock version but I can see it eating up your battery faster than than if you would turn it off!
