Please don't laugh, but what does a PRL update do for you and can you update if your phone is jail broken?

PRL = Preferred Roaming List

It's a database of system IDs housed in the phone that tells it which towers to connect to, in what order when you are away from the system ID designated as your 'home' system.

And yes, you can update if you're jail broken.

There's a new update (6/19/11), follow the same instructions above (or below) to find the PRL # which should be 52341 after the update.

*228 option 2 is how to update and Dialing *#5005*4357# to see what version you have.

*#5005* isnt working.. just gives me the call cannot be completed.....

If you just did the *#5005* - you left off the very important 4357# part...

I just saved the whole *#5005*4357# in my phonebook as PRL Check - works every time.

i did dial the whole thing, was just being lazy, lol it works on my wifes ip4, wonder if it has something to do with ios 5
