I want to jailbreak my verizon iphone and currently have 4.2.7 installed. Is there a way to revert back to 4.2.6. Firmware? Anyone successfully able to do this yet.

You don't need to be jb to save your SHSH blobs. Just use tinyumbrella to do that (either locally or on the Cydia servers).
But if you already upgraded to 4.2.7 you're SOL.

Success

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share that I was able to downgrade from 4.2.7 to 4.2.6 via itunes (I downloaded the 4.2.6 firmware, and pressed alt-restore in itunes). I then used greenpois0n rc6.1 to jailbreak, and I'm back running cydia etc.

Of note, I did NOT have to save any blobs or whatever. I simply did a restore of the old firmware. Hope that helps.

i have the firmware already (i think) it is a .ipsw file about 660MB. how do i flash this on my phone? i tried to double click it and that just opens itunes but does nothing else. I went to the site that was mentioned and all i saw was a bunch of links to other sites. Sorry for asking noob questions.

In iTunes. Click your iPhone, there should be an update button and a restore button.

Shift click restore and point to your ipsw.

Enter DFU mode on the phone first.

I have a mac, so in itunes, i hold the alt-button and click on restore. This brings a file dialogue where i can point it to my downloaded firmware.

BTW, I didn't need to be in dfu mode. I simply had the phone connected to itunes, and off it went.

Steps to downgrade from 4.2.7 to 4.2.6.

Step 1: Make sure you have your SHSH blobs saved. A way to check this is to download TinyUmbrella, connect your iPhone to your computer, and then once it recognizes your phone, click Save SHSH blobs. It will then verify if you have them saved in the log description.

Step 2: Download the 4.2.6 ipsw file. There are links all over if you just search Google.

Step 3: Open iTunes and put your phone in DFU mode. Then, hold down the shift key and press restore (hold down alt key for Mac users). Then find where you have your firmware saved and select 4.2.6. iTunes will then ask you to press restore.

Step 4: iTunes will restore 4.2.6 on your phone, and here is where you might get the 1013 error, which makes your phone stuck in recovery mode.

Step 5: Download Greenpoison rc6.1. Put your phone back in DFU mode and then run Greenpoison to jailbreak your phone.

After greenpoison does its thing, your phone should boot back up with 4.2.6 installed and you will be jailbroken.

I can 100% confirm this works. After spending a good three days hunting down a way to jailbreak 4.2.7 I tried the downgrade option. Worked flawlessly.

You can safely downgrade now because Apple are still signing the firmwares.

Once they stop that, you won't be able to downgrade unless you save your blobs.
