Bringing 3g into Apple on Tuesday.. what to expect?

So I have had a 3g for a couple years now, and even though I have moved on to a different phone, I still use the iphone a fair amount. My backlight has stopped working so I made an appointment to see a genius.. Obviously it's not under warranty anymore, but I was wondering what others have experienced (will they offer to fix? sell me a refurb??).

Apple doesn't sell refurbs at the Apple store. They may offer to fix it if it doesnt require any parts like a new screen. New screens are $199.

ugh... i would be better off buying a used 3gs if that is the case.. or attempting to live with androids music player options (unlikely)

Yup. Just go in and see what they say. Nothing to lose. Maybe something just came loose
