I am finally leaving sprint and going to AT&T for the iphone tomorrow and was debating which data plan to get either the 200MB or 2GB.

I am in wifi area most of the time so I think the 200MB would be sufficient, what do you guys think?

Well what kind of data were you averaging on Sprint? And remember if you do a lot of streaming on the
network, that's a big data eater.

I would go with the 2GB, its 10 dollars extra, but its better than the headache of going over your data consumption. Once you get an IP, you start spending data on things you never thought you would.

Eh on sprint I would tether my evo daily so it was near 10GB Lol, but I mostly do some texting and checking Facebook, Twitter but usually on Wifi. But I think I will be getting the 2GB just to be safe

I say stick with the 2GB for the first few months. And then if you notice that you're not using as much as you thought you would, then change it...

PS: keep us posted, once you get your device, etc, etc. I hope you're not going to Apple\AT&T, after 17:00 tomorrow! The lines will be massive, and the people in the shop(s), just because too, will be massive...

I wont be tethering anymore, since I have reliable internet at home now. And I mostly use it at work which has awesome wifi! But I guess I'll have to wait and see

Pretty much that. Web browsing, downloading, apps that load stuff, etc.
Streaming things like videos and podcasts are big ones too.

...curious: if WIFI is on, as well as 3G, which one will take priority? Is it based on the app being used, or should one turn off 3G if they strictly want to be on WIFI?

    Thanks in advance.

It will use Wifi first, then 3G.

*Edit: If you're on wifi it will ONLY use wifi ( except calls and SMS that can't use wifi and don't count towards your data transfer ). For example, if you're connected to a wifi spot and the connection dies, but you're still connected to the router, but it can't get to the internet your data connection will not fail over to 3G, it will just say it can't get to the internet.

I did this exact thing two weeks ago and I went with the 2GB. I don't use WIFI often even though I can, but I decided Id see how often I used everything and adjust later if necessary. My parents were surprised how often they used the data on their phone even though they expected they'd use WIFI more.

What's made you decide to leave Sprint? And why choose AT&T when Verizon has "unlimited" iPhone data at the moment.

Because AT&T gives student discounts and I am a College student so it's cheaper for me.
